Let's all go to the lobby...

Yes, let's. I love the movies. I think films are great. i can't really tell you why, except that they're at their best when it's a director putting his vision on the screen. Whether it be George Lucas or David Cronemberg, Stephen Speilberg or Darren Arnofsky, when they're doind their moves, their vision, you can't beat the cinema. Especially the open air classics that the IFC in Dublin runs in the summer. There's nothing like Citizen Kane or A Night at the Opera on a big projector screen in the middle of a freezing night in Dublin's summer. Umm, i can't think of anytheng else to put here for now, so here's a quick list of Lorcan's fave directors and why:

  • Tim Burton: No can put a stamp on a film like this guy. Pure Genius
  • Orson Wells: Citizen Kane. 'Nuff Said.
  • David lynch: The Dark Side of the soul on film... over and over again, plus Dune
  • David Cronemberg: In vision terms, the William Gibson of the screen. Videodrome was 20 years ahead of time and should have been about computers, not video.
  • Darren Arnofsky: He's only made Pi, and Requiem for a Dream but that puts him on my list. one of the best new talents in twenty years.
  • Katsuhiro Otomo: Animator who gave us Akira
  • Mamoru Oshii: Another animator, he's not here for his creativity, but for stamping every one of his works with respect for the source material and his own directorial style.
And now, a list of fave movies:
  • Akira
  • Citizen Kane
  • The Star Wars Movies
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • Edward Sissorhands
  • Mars Attacks!
  • Anything with Godzilla in it(Excluding that Dean Devlin abortion)
  • Pi
  • Cube
  • Delicatessan
  • Anything with the Marx Brothers.
  • Old Mel Brooks Comedies
